Learn to Knit class at Yankee Wool Works, Sturbridge, MA

This is a 5-week beginner knitting class designed for people who have little or no knitting experience. The English (throwing) style of knitting will be taught using straight needles with flat knitting. Students will learn the knitted cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, knitted bind off, and how to create garter, stockinette, and ribbed fabric. They will also learn a simple increase and decrease. All of the learned skills will be used in a final project.

Students are expected to practice the weekly skills at home between classes in order to develop muscle memory and confidence in the stitches. Online resources will be provided at the first class to ensure at-home progression.

This class will meet on Tuesdays for 5 weeks starting March 14th from 5-6:30 PM at Yankee Wool Works in Sturbridge MA.

Class Fee: $95 ($80 for instruction and $15 for materials which includes needles, practice yarn, and product yarn). Please bring cash or make a check to Melissa Beyer.

Melissa Beyer learned to knit as a child and has been an avid knitter for more than twelve years after leaving her Electrical Engineering career to be a stay-at-home mom. She is a knitwear designer with published patterns available on her site – knittymelissa.com . In addition to knitting, she spins, weaves, crochets, and most recently has been dabbling in watercolor painting.
